The Rubber Research Institute of Sri Lanka (RRISL) jointly with the Rubber Development Department (RDD), Smallholder Tea & Rubber Rehabilitation Project (STARR) and Thurusaviya Fund (TF) has initiated a project for the voluntary carbon market (VCM) using the expected carbon fixed by rubber trees planted in Monaragala and Ampara districts. Whilst providing some additional benefits to the rubber growers, it aims to make RRISL, RDD and TF carbon neutral aligning with the government policy on climate change.
The above workshop was conducted to educate the higher officials in the Ministry, RDD & TP on project activities, on 1st December 2021 at the auditorium of Sethsiripaya, Bathtaramulla.
